I am a former advertising account executive and corporate events manager, who is now a stay-at-home mom. When I was working full-time, I found it difficult to meet other moms because my time was so limited. I was not the person taking my daughters to their classes, to the park or just for walks around the neighborhood, where I would have the opportunity to meet other moms. And then when we moved to a new neighborhood and I became a stay-at-home mom, I had to start all over again.
When I went out with my daughters, it was nearly impossible to meet or have conversations with any other moms while chasing around two toddlers! I joined many different online groups but found it difficult to make friends in this setting as well. Trying to find individual moms by navigating through many group members’ profiles, when they were accessible, was time consuming and did not always provide the information I was looking for… What type of play dates would they like to have with the kids? How would they like to spend a girls night out? What were their interests outside of being a mom?
In order to find real, potential friends it seemed that there was more information needed than just having kids the same age and living in the same neighborhood. And so the idea for Company of Moms was born.
Enjoy!
